ORTHODONTIC DENTAL FAQS
We love helping our patients better understand their dental health and orthodontic treatment plans. We are happy to answer any more questions you might have during your consultation.
Orthodontic treatment plans are used to address issues affecting your bite alignment. If you have a crossbite, overbite, underbite, or otherwise crooked teeth, orthodontic treatment can help you address these concerns. Misaligned bite patterns may lead to a variety of other dental concerns like an increased risk of tooth decay and gum disease development. Orthodontic services promote improved dental health by targeting issues like improper jaw alignment, crooked teeth, and overcrowded teeth. Additionally, orthodontic care helps improve aesthetics and self-esteem concerns.
Patients often think of orthodontic services as having primarily cosmetic benefits. However, in addition to achieving a more uniform smile, orthodontic services allow patients to better their overall dental health. Studies have shown that patients with crooked teeth are more likely to develop dental concerns like TMJ disorders due to the misalignment of their jaw. Additionally, a misaligned bite pattern increases a patient’s chance of developing gum disease and tooth decay. Straightening your smile will not only leave you feeling more confident with your looks but also more confident about your overall dental health.
It’s never too late to begin orthodontic treatment. However, the older you are, the longer it will take to convince your teeth to shift into a straighter position. This is why many people pursue orthodontics when they are younger, or even teenagers. Define Orthodontics offers orthodontic services for patients of all ages. From early intervention to support healthy oral development to solutions for adults with orthodontic needs, Define Orthodontics is equipped to meet your orthodontic needs at any stage of development.
Patients of all ages can benefit from orthodontic treatment. We treat patients of all ages in our Irving, TX orthodontist’s office. Our comprehensive menu of orthodontic treatment options can address any orthodontic concerns all under one room. Whether your child needs two-phase treatment for early orthodontic intervention, your teen is curious about the benefits of Invisalign Teen, or you want to feel more confident about your smile, Define Orthodontics offers the treatments needed to address these concerns and more.
Dr. Sodhi welcomes adult patients and can provide treatment options to meet a wide range of needs or concerns. Adults who had previous orthodontic treatment can experience orthodontic relapse. This is when teeth begin to shift again, affecting both the aesthetics and health of the bite. Dr. Sodhi can often restore a healthier and straighter smile after release with clear aligners.
If you are an adult patient who has never had braces but suffers from malocclusion, orthodontic treatment can restore your dental health and help maintain the stability of your bite as you age.
Early orthodontic intervention is for proactive parents who know their children will likely need orthodontic services at some point in their lives. Getting started on orthodontic treatment early in the development of your child’s dental structures will potentially save you time and money on additional orthodontic services later on. Around the age of 7, we recommend bringing in your child for a thorough orthodontic exam with Dr. Sodhi. She will evaluate the progress of your child’s dental development and make suggestions on minimally invasive orthodontic appliances that can be used to aid in creating a stable foundation for your child’s permanent teeth to grow into.
